Cattle Report 5th June, 2017

12 Prime cattle, 1 Store heifer, 1 Breeding bull and 9 OTM cattle were sold on Monday, when Prime cattle sold to 230p/kg for a 640kg Charolais steer, from Stanger, South Seatter, Sandwick, which realised £1472 to Williamsons Butchers, East Road, Kirkwall.

Prime heifers sold to 215p/kg for a 590kg Limousin, also from Stanger, South Seatter, Sandwick, which realised £1268.50 to Flett Butcher, Stromness.

Other leading Prime cattle prices –

Limousin heifer (505kg) McGucken, Lyking, Sandwick (215p) £1085.75

Charolais heifer (705kg) Smith, Cauldhame, Stromness (210p) £1480.50

The only store heifer forward for sale sold to 221.8p/kg for a 505kg Charolais, from Stephen, Sandwick House, South Ronaldsay,  which realised £1120.

A 7 year old breeding Simmental bull, from Isbister, Feolquoy, Stromness, realised £1550, and OTM cows sold to 151.2p/kg for a 410kg Limousin, from Flett, Moan, Firth, which realised £620

Next Monday, 12th June, we will sell our cattle at 11.30am, followed immediately by all classes of sheep.  If you’ve got sheep to sell please try to have them at the Mart by 11am
