Cattle Report 18/04/16

12 Store cattle and 17 OTM Cattle were sold on Monday, when Store steers sold to 202.2p/kg for a pen of 4 Salers from Thomson, Beafield, Sanday, which scaled 460kg and realised £930.

Other leading steer prices per kilo –

Limousin (465kg) Stevenson, Bu, Stronsay (202.2p) £940

Top price per head for Store steers was £1035 for a 525kg Limousin, from Stevenson, Bu, Stronsay (197.1p)

Store heifers sold to 192p/kg for a 500kg Simmental, from Stevenson, Bu, Stronsay, which realised £960.

Top price per head for heifers was £1170 for a 645kg Simmental, also from Bu, Stronsay (181.4p)

Also for sale were, 7 Prime hoggs, 81 Store hoggs and 30 Cast sheep.

Prime hoggs sold to 173.8p/kg for a 40kg Texel x hogg, from Rendall, Holland, Papa Westray, which realised £69.50.

2 Suffolks (42kg) Morgan, Swannay Farm, Swannay (£72.50)
2 Suffolks (43kg) Heard, Huip, Stronsay (£73.50) – This was also top price per head for Prime hoggs,

Store hoggs sold to £76/head for a pen of 14 Texel x hoggs, from McEwan, Oaklea, St Ola and also for a pair of Suffolks from Garriock, Mount Pleasant, Sandwick.

Cheviot (£55) Tchaikovsky, North Guith, Eday

Cast ewes sold to £92 for a Suffolk, from Heard, Huip, Stronsay.
