Cattle Report 4th August 14

12 Prime cattle, 6 store cattle and 6 OTM cattle were sold on Monday, when Prime cattle sold to 214p/kg for a 610kg Charolais heifer, from Glen Orkney Farms, St Ola, which realised £1305.40 and was purchased by E Flett Butchers Stromness.

Other leading heifer prices –

Charolais (655kg) Eunson, Staye, Deerness (212p) £1388.60

Prime steers sold to 212p/kg for a 550kg Angus, from Corrigall, Northbigging, Dounby, which realised £1166 and was bought by E Flett Butchers Stromness.

Other leading prime steer prices –

Charolais (560kg) Thomson, Layburn, Rendall (208p) £1164.80

Store steers sold to 224.4p/kg for a pair of 450kg Charolais, from Holland, Kirbister, Stronsay, which realised £1010.

Store heifers sold to 172.7p/kg for a 440kg Charolais, also from Kirbister, Stronsay which realised £760.

OTM Cows sold to 144.9p/kg for a 690kg Simmental, from Stout, Whitehall, Stronsay, which realised £1000.

Other leading OTM prices –

Limousin (655kg) Henry, Howe, Harray (131.3p) £860

An OTM bull, from Flett, Stank, Stromness, scaled 1145kg and realised £1240 (108.3p/kg)
