Cattle Report 16th June 14

13 Prime cattle, 13 Store cattle, 27 OTM’s and 5 Breeding cows were sold on Monday, when Prime steers sold to 219p/kg for a 540kg Limousin x, from Eunson, Staye, Deerness, which realised £1182.60 purchased by Williamsons East Road Kirkwall

Other leading steer prices –

Aberdeen Angus (685kg) Thomson, Cockmurra, Holm (208p) £1424.80

Prime heifers also sold to 219p/kg for a 600kg Aberdeen Angus, from Thomson, Cockmurra, Holm, which realised £1314 purchased by Williamsons East Road Kirkwall.

Other leading heifer prices –

Charolais (540kg) Smith, Cauldhame, Stromness (212p) £1144.80

Store steers sold to 232p/kg for a pen of 3 Aberdeen Angus’s, from Allison, Kirbister, Longhope, which realised £870.

Store heifers sold to 218.8p/kg for a pen of 3 Charolais, also from Allison, Kirbister, Longhope, which realised £860.

OTM cattle sold to 147.9p/kg for a 595kg Angus cow, from Shearer, Backakelday, Holm, which realised £880.
